Many of us at MUSCS have completed at least one co-op term! Feel free to head to the contact us section to chat with some of the individuals on their experiences or head to https://scce.science.mcmaster.ca/co-op/ too learn about how to can be a part of the co op program.
Here is an overview of how you can get involved!
Winter of 2nd year: Apply to the co-op program. If you pass the application process, you will be invited for an interview.
Summer between 2nd & 3rd year: Considering you pass the interview process you will enroll in the Science 3C00 course
Fall of 3rd year: During the Science 3C00 course, you will learn about the job application process. For example, how to effectively write a resume and cover letter. Also, how to present yourself in an interview and how to answer interview questions. In addition, you will be applying to co-op jobs. The SCCE posts several jobs on the OscarPlus job board and they help with mock interview and much more!
Winter of 3rd year: Depending on the job that you receive, you will have option to either do 2 4-month co-op from January to April and May-August, or 1 8-month co-op from January to August. You can choose to extend you first term 4-month co-op, which is dependent on the job. Should you have to choose another job from May-August, you will have to continue applying during January-April.
